In its commitment to ensuring hitch free Christmas and New Year Celebrations, the Zamfara State Police Command has assured the residents that security measures have been put in place to safeguard lives and property during and after the celebrations.
This was contained in a press statement signed and issued to newsmen in Gusau by the State police spokesman, SP Mohammed Shehu.
The statement said Police Commissioner, Kolo Yusuf, has ordered massive deployment of Police operatives and other security agencies to all churches, recreational centres and other vulnerable places.
“To further strengthen the existing security emplacement, the Commissioner has embarked on confidence building patrol of major highways, commencing from Gusau – Mafara – Sokoto road”, the statement noted.
“The Patrol is aimed at ensuring the safety and security of commuters and other road users. The CP also tasked Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders and DPOs to adopt the same strategy in their respective jurisdictions”
“Similarly, members of the public are hereby warned that sale and use of fireworks, knockouts and firecrackers in the State have been banned and hence parents and guardians are advised to monitor their wards to ensure they remain law-abiding citizens”
“Road users are to be careful and vigilant while driving and obey all traffic rules and cooperate with security agencies before, during and after the celebrations”
