The YouTuber who was attacked by Samuel Eto’o at the World Cup has revealed that he asked the former Cameroon striker if he gave a referee a bribe.

Eto’o was filmed in a confrontation with Algerian YouTuber Said Mamouni outside the 974 Stadium in Doha on Monday night after Brazil’s 4-1 victory over South Korea.

Eto’o, who is now the president of Cameroon’s Football Association, was quickly angered after being approached by Mamouni, who was filming the conversation.

The 41-year-old, who is also one of Qatar’s ‘legacy ambassadors’ for the World Cup, then went on to break free from the people trying to restrain him and kneed Mamouni in the head.

Mamouni also appeared to have his camera broken by a member of Eto’o’s entourage.

Speaking after the incident, Mamouni revealed that he reported the attack to the police in Qatar and claims the incident was sparked by him asking Eto’o if he had bribed referee Bakary Gassama.

The Gambian official angered Algeria earlier this year with his decisions in their World Cup playoff against Cameroon. Algeria subsequently requested to FIFA for the match to be replayed due to ‘scandalous refereeing’.

‘I’m at the police station to file a complaint against Eto’o. He hit me, and someone else with him pushed me and destroyed my camera,’ Mamouni said.

‘I asked him how Bakary Gassama is and if he gave him a bribe. He then hit me and destroyed both my camera and mic.

‘I will take my rights here in Qatar as it is a state of law, he did hit me in the chest and the face and in my elbow.’
