Nollywood actor and comedian, Okey Bakassi has warned that the recklessness of the present crop of political office holders in the country could lead to a military coup.
He noted that many politicians now act like “gods” and are very hostile to criticisms.
He lamented that civilians are being intimidated and arrested for criticising the government despite the country being a democracy.
The actor stated this while reacting to the state of emergency declared in Rivers State by President Bola Tinubu. The actor spoke in a recent chat with his colleague, Ime Bishop Umoh.
Bakassi said, “Politicians are now behaving like they are gods. All of them are now behaving like they are untouchable. If you speak [against them], they will arrest you. This is how they will continue in this recklessness until the military decides take over the government.
“That time, they will ask civilians to protest and defend democracy. But now, they don’t want civilians anything about democracy.”
“Many Nigeria politicians are now behaving like they’re gods and untouchable. Anybody that talk against them, they will arrest the person. This is how they will continue in this reckless until the Military decides to do a coup & take over the country”.
