Yobe State House of Assembly says it has received the first batch of commissioner-nominees sent by Governor Mai Mala Buni.
The Speaker of the House, Right Honourable Chiroma Mashio disclosed this during the passage of a resolution on the virement of seventeen billion naira to augment some codes in the 2023 budget.
The Speaker assured that the names of the nominees would be announced in the next legislative session.
It was gathered that last Thursday, Governor Buni through the Acting Secretary to the State Government, Baba Malam Wali, sent the list of the first batch of commissioner-nominees.
During the sitting, the House passed a resolution on the virement of seventeen billion naira to augment some codes in the 2023 approved budget after receiving the report of its standing committee on finance and appropriation on the virement.
While shedding more light on the virement, the Chairman, House committee on Finance and Appropriation, Hon. Buba Ibrahim Kalallawa said the virement, which is an internal adjustment within some codes of the budget, will not affect the size of the approved budget.
Kalallawa added that the virement became necessary considering the high prices of goods and services which affected some codes in the approved 2023 budget.
According to him, the approved virement will enable the executive arm of government to fund some newly established agencies in the health sector.
The Speaker commended members for supporting the virement which will assist the executive arm of government to provide more dividends of democracy to the people of the State.
