WWE legend Mick Foley has revealed he has had plenty of offers to play Santa Claus in TV shows and moves but he’s always rejected them.

The Hall of Famer has donned the famous red hat and coat on WWE TV plenty of times over the years and considers himself one of Santa’s little helpers over the festive season, but Jolly Old Saint Mick wouldn’t want to do anything that goes against his idea of Christmas spirit.

He exclusively told Metro.co.uk: ‘I guess it would take a good offer! I’ve been offered a few things and turned them down because I didn’t think it was in keeping with the spirit of the Santa that I portray.

‘And so the best thing that people can do is hire an actor who doesn’t have a personal connection to portraying Santa.’

He added that he has such a strong connection to the big man himself that he couldn’t imagine putting anything less than a wholesome spin on Father Christmas.

Foley pointed to the example of Richard Riehle, who has appeared in the likes of Hatchet and played Santa in both 2010’s The Search for Santa Paws and in A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas the following year.

He added: ‘So like, if you’re an actor portraying Santa, you can smoke a joint in A Harold & Kumar Christmas, but [for me] it’s hard to justify that – if that makes any sense.’

Earlier this year, Mick opened up to to us about how he coped with the rollercoaster reality of a career in wrestling, and admitted he has used the energy of live crowds and Santa himself to keep his chin up over the years.

‘When I get out there [for my spoken word shows] and I’m on the stage and I’m getting laughs or cringes or the occasional happy tear, I feel very much like I did when I was in the ring,’ he said.

‘The early December portrayals of a certain historical December character – I love doing that as well. Although I don’t have the beard growing out this year, I’ll find a way, hopefully, to play a part in that world as well.’
