WOMAN AS POWER STOREHOUSE By Abdu Rafiu

The International Women’s Day took place three weeks ago, specifically on 08 March. It is held yearly on the 8th of March in commemoration and furtherance of the struggle by women for emancipation, the right to vote and be voted for and what they call gender equality, reproductive rights and empowerment. It is a rallying point Day to raise awareness over yearnings of women and mistreatment wherever they may occur all over the world; and push for openings in the economic and political spheres. They raised the stakes in the Beijing Declaration of Affirmation Action of 1995. Maryam Abacha, leading the Nigerian delegation, came back home in triumphal confidence, brandishing the testimonial of the achievement from the meeting, the Fourth World Conference that took place in September of that year. At that meeting the women said they were determined “to advance the goals of equality, development and peace for all women everywhere in the interest of all humanity.” It is believed that the commemoration of the International Women’s Day is linked with the Russian Revolution of 1917.

Since that revolution, women have made jaw-breaking and significant in-roads into powerful offices, economic and political. The world has had Bandaranaike as Prime Minister of Ceylon, now Sri Lanka; Indira Gandhi in India; Of course the Iron Lady, Margaret Thatcher who was in the saddle for 16 years in the United Kingdom. Before then she had been Minister of Education during which she earned the ‘milk snatcher’ cognomen. We have had Mrs. Theresa May; the Scottish First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon; Angela Mikel in Germany who was Chancellor for 16 years, same as Mrs. Thatcher. Kemi Badenoch, the Conservative Party Leader and British Leader of Opposition is on the queue. We have had Presidential Candidate Hilary Clinton who wrestled with Donald Trump for the coveted Oval Office. She beat Mr. Trump in popular vote but lost at the Electoral College in 2016. Last year it was the turn of Kamala Harris to take on Mr. Trump in the fierce bid for the White House. Only last week, 72-year-old Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah became President in Namibia. She was in the trenches with Nujoma of Swapo (South West Africa People’s Organization) for that country’s independence of 1990. Long before now, in 2017, Jacinda Ardern had been Prime Minster at the age of 37 up till two years ago in New Zealand.

These are the attractions and incentives women all over the world long to see and have. The Beijing meeting said it recognised the advancement in the status of women, “but that progress has been uneven, inequalities between women and men have persisted and major obstacles remain, with serious consequences for the well-being of all people.” Therefore, they reaffirmed their “commitment to the empowerment and advancement of women, including the right to freedom of thought, conscience, religion and belief, thus contributing to the moral, ethical, spiritual and intellectual needs of women and men, individually or in community with others and thereby guaranteeing them the possibility of realising their full potential in society and shaping their lives in accordance with their own aspirations.”

Women have made these their battle cry from year to year in conferences of different colourations, locally or international. They speak of marginalization; they talk of discrimination against women. When they talk about discrimination, the mind cannot but race to Afghanistan where a woman, by law, cannot go to a public place unaccompanied by a man!

The question that arises is: Who is a woman? All the experiences are because a great many among us mankind do not know who a woman is and her place of in Creation. In other words, whether women or men, all are seeking in the dark and in the wrong direction. It is Nature that assigns roles to both men and women, and not just on earth but in all Creation, including higher Spiritual Realms. I have stated this a few times before in these pages. According to the enlightenment of these times, women on earth do not know who they are and have, therefore, rebelled against the ordinance of our Maker, drawing up roles for themselves. Genuine womanhood is the treasure of Creation, standing half a step higher than men. With her gift, the richness of her essence, she is in a position to tell right from wrong and wrong from right than men can. In such matters her judgment is to be depended upon. I am talking about a woman who has not been inwardly corrupted.

I gave the hint last week about the power of women, quoting the wife of one-time President of France, General Charles de Gaulle who had said to her husband: “Charles, you govern France, but I rule this house, including you.” That pronouncement says it all! The abundance of richer spiritual content in the make-up of women, that is which forms their delicate essence, makes them the storehouse of power and highly sensitive. Because men lack this content they are coarse while woman is supple and loosened permitting the permeability of Light Rays, thus connecting them with God’s power. In the wisdom of our Maker, were men to carry the grace afforded women in their spiritual make up it would hinder them in their tasks. Because of the estrangement from the Creator, the Queen Victorian Age of etiquette is meaningless in today’s world. What the etiquette demands of men to women will be laughed to scorn and rejected by women themselves as patronising! The modern woman would rather ape men in their activities, their professions and dressing and steel themselves than keep to what makes a woman womanly. They make efforts to suppress their womanliness. Women are into boxing, wrestling and weight lifting. And they run all over the place playing lawn-tennis. They are footballers, pilots and paratroopers.

The problem of mankind began from the beginning in the Garden of Eden rendered in an allegory which man has not taken enough pains to comprehend. From the Bible, Genesis 2, 16 and 17, we read as follows: “And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as God, knowing good and evil. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.”

The serpent is Lucifer and the sagacity of the instrument in his hand, the intellect; Lucifer the enemy of God Almighty that fought to obstruct the Work of Redemption by the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God; as well as against the Son of Man at the latter’s own time, too. Lucifer, widely known as the fallen Archangel charged with mentoring and guiding mankind abandoned the lofty tasks and did the opposite, he worked for their downfall. In the enlightenment of these times we learn about him as follows: “Lucifer, the Archangel from the Divine Kingdom, who was sent into Creation to bring men the enlightenment of the earthly intellect, out of self-will introduced the principle of temptation in place of the principle of helping and supporting love. Instead of teaching the right use of the intellect, necessary as an instrument on earth, he seduced men into cultivating the intellect one-sidedly, and thereby into placing it above the spirit. And men succumbed to the temptation. This was the beginning of the Fall of Man. It was the decisive moment when man pondered about himself, when he began to become conscious of his own personality, not however with the humility and unassumingness of the spirit, but with the calculating, arrogant cleverness of the earthly intellect. This was now made the measure of all things”.

In his exceptionally treasure work, A Gate Opens Herbert Vollmann throws light on this event in the Garden of Eden. He says: “… we must not forget that here it is a matter of the allegorical rendering of a spiritual happening. Moreover, the temptation did not take place in the heavenly paradise, but on earth, where men had already been living for some time.

“The Biblical words about the offering and taking of the apple were meant to convey that woman became conscious of the effects of her charms upon man, and also made use of them. He responded to them, and for his part sought to draw the attention of the woman to himself by accumulating treasures.

“Thus man, with the awakening intellect, for the first time consciously and deliberately did something that was wrong: he opposed the Laws of God.

“This was all the worse because he did it voluntarily. For even at that time, at the beginning of his development towards consciousness of himself, he was free to obey the Will of God alone, without first having to know and experience evil at all.

“But he allowed himself to be led astray to such an extent by the serpent, by which is meant intellectual cleverness, that a threat of death had to be pronounced against him. The death threatened in the allegory, however, refers not to the earthly but to the spiritual, the eternal death, the effacing of the personality that has become conscious of itself. It occurs when man must be rejected as a useless stone in Creation.

“Lucifer enticed men to cultivate their intellect one-sidedly, and awakened the recognition of their vanity and the desire to enjoy more of it. Man could not resist the temptation to eat of the fruit of the “tree of knowledge.”

Mr. Vollmann goes on to state that through men’s failure, the links with the Luminous Heights were loosened. Deep grief over the increasing darkness of the human spirit filled many helpers in the beyond, who are always concerned with the upward-striving of their charges on earth.”

“For thousands of years now mankind of their own free will have placed themselves under the domination of the intellect, as a consequence of the Fall of Man and of the hereditary sin. Yet sins as such are not handed down, but as there is only physical heredity, only the physical cause of hereditary sin is passed on: the over –cultivated frontal brain (intellectual brain), which ever again harbours the danger of suppressing the spirit through its exaggerated, unnatural use.

“In time this brought about an unhealthy over-ripeness of the intellect and an immature spirit. The consequences of surreptitiously eating from the tree of knowledge reveal themselves in the most disastrously way. They grew into a severe, very often a fatal craving, which applies to all the evil that can possibly be formed by men” Vollmann adds: “Finally, men became slaves of their instrument, the distorted intellect. Fraud and deception, slavery and force, sensuality and lust, discontent, envy, hatred and murder are some of the evil consequences.”

“Jesus knew the true cause of the Fall of Man, and the full gravity of its consequences; He knew that also in future men would hardly alter their wrong stand-point. Out of this knowledge He spoke of the final time, and the manifestation of the Last Judgment.

“Today, we stand in the midst of the Judgment proclaimed by Jesus, and all the signs, whose frequency can no longer be ignored, point to the fact that it is nearing its climax.” It is in this chaos and confusion that all mankind are reeling with women throwing off their roles to compete with men.

The words man and woman are different in meaning; and when we put them before our gaze they instantly conjure different pictures. Since all things radiate, it stands to reason that all alphabets in the words emit different rays. Thus woman and man and their roles are not interchangeable. When man is fast asleep and does not want to be disturbed it is the woman who knows when her baby is ill-at-ease; It is she who gets to know immediately that their child in school in a region far from their home has taken ill and the school authorities have been trying to reach them. In home chores what a girl or her mother will carry with three fingers, the man will break the plates carrying them with his two hands. To carry them successfully he may have to be trained. It is the woman who has a keen sense of beauty and separates beauty from ugliness. It is the woman who picks shoes, ties, eye glasses and what have you which the man throws about anyhow on his return from work. Because of the richness of her essence no man can match a genuine woman in love and in the art of caring, but also in the opposite, that is excelling in cruelty. The gap between both genders is such that a fall by a woman can be likened to falling from a 20-storey building, and that of a man no more than tripping on the ground floor. While the woman scatters, mortally wounded, the man merely bruises his knees, dusts up his trousers and moves on. This is also why when there is a break up in a relationship into which a woman has invested true love, she feels so hurt that it is as if her whole world is collapsing and she has to be strong to recover from the attendant depression. Should there be a threat to the family she would throw herself into the ring, battling it like a mother-hen with absolute disregard to personal consequences.

Such is the pulling power of the woman that it is the man who approaches to woo her. The spirit which is the essence of man is magnetic. Since there is this enrichness peculiar to women in their make-up, manifesting in tenderness, sensitiveness, glowing skin and fineness it is easy to see that it is men who run after women. Where the opposite is the case, the community is bewildered and people gather in groups to confabulate, to express surprise or mock her and her mother. The woman is a great teacher and guide. Is it not often heard that you blame the mother when a child falls short and hail the father when he collects accolades and is given a standing ovation: Oh, no wonder; he is the son of Mr. Jones!

Such is the separation between man and woman designed by Nature. Such is the delicate, fine, yet powerful nature of woman that the modern woman would not bat an eyelid to throw out of the window! The woman is powerful and a storehouse of power, she is more powerful than men while the man is coarse and stronger—to protect the treasure that the woman is and fend for the household!

Year after year, at conference after conference, women concentrate only on the physical, the material aspect of life, rather than on the uniqueness of their essence. They little realise that when they concentrate on their allotted tasks and swing in the Will of God, the material will be taken care of –in the unswerving outworking of the mechanism of life.

The state of any nation is determined by the degree of the inner radiance of her womanhood. Where women go they drag the men! Lucifer conscious of this inherent power of women over men went straight for Eve! And the world went out of joint!!
