Neville was alongside Micah Richards, Roy Keane and Kelly Cates at the Etihad as they talked up the upcoming game between Manchester City and Aston Villa.
There was a break in the punditry as the Anchorman star popped in to say hello and interrupt Neville in the process.
It was a surprise to see the actor, but perhaps it was unsurprising he used the opportunity to roast someone and it was Neville who took the brunt of it.
‘We don’t need to hear from Gary, we’re bored stiff by Gary,’ said Ferrell as he took the former Manchester United star’s microphone.
‘Sorry, I watch religiously…until you speak,’ he joked.
Ferrell then reminded viewers that he actually knows Keane after they starred in Soccer Aid together 10 years ago, as the unlikely duo shared an embrace.
The 55-year-old is co-owner of MLS side Los Angeles FC and claimed he was in England on a scouting mission for his side, alter revealing that he was actually just on holiday with some pals and watching a few matches.
‘I’m on a recruiting trip for LAFC, I’m just seeing if they measure up to the MLS,’ he joked.
‘I watch a fair amount [of football], I don’t really have a side over here, I just enjoy following the storylines.
‘It’s obviously a very good league, I’m going to go out on a limb and say there are some very good teams and players here.’
