‘A celebration of our club’s core symbol, as we reveal our cannon-fronted home kit for the first time since 1989/90,’ read a statement on Arsenal’s official website.
The debut of our new home kit is accompanied by our film, exploring the passion that is invoked by the iconic Arsenal cannon. Starring our first-team stars, the launch film features our players in significant landmarks across Emirates Stadium – from the electric North Bank to the home changing room – and explores what the famous symbol means to both our players and supporters alike.’
‘Since joining Arsenal, it has been clear to me how important the cannon is, to this great club & our supporters. It epitomises our spirit & we’re excited to wear it on the pitch with pride next season.,’ added Brazil international forward Gabriel Martinelli.
When can Arsenal wear their new home kit?
Fans hoping to see the likes of Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard strutting their stuff in the new strip will have to wait a while longer, however.
Arsenal debuted their current strip on the final day of last season’s Premier League campaign, ironically also against Everton who they face on Sunday, but will be unable to war the new adidas design this weekend.
A year ago, Arsenal’s title bid had already floundered before the final game of the campaign, but with their hopes still alive this time around Premier League rules prevent clubs who are in with a chance of lifting the trophy from wearing a new strip on the last day.
The Gunners will, instead, wear the new kit during their pre-season tour of America, which begins on July 27 with a game against Manchester United in Los Angeles.
How much does the new Arsenal kit cost?
Any fan wanting to purchase the new kit will have to fork out £80 should they want to the short sleeve version, while a long sleeve strip will set you back an additional £5. .
A child’s shirt, meanwhile, will cost an astonishing £55 and shorts have been priced at £45.
‘The home kit is crafted for performance and to provide our players with the confidence to play under pressure, this lightweight jersey features the latest in adidas technology and is created in close collaboration with the Arsenal men’s and women’s teams,’ read a statement on the Arsenal website, outlining the design features in the new kit.
How can Arsenal still win the Premier League?
Regardless of the shirt they wear, Arsenal fans will just pray they can still end the season on the ultimate hight.
Manchester City’s win over Tottenham in midweek put them in pole position to claim a fourth straight title, and Pep Guardiola’s relentless machine will confirm their status as champions with another victory on Sunday against West Ham.
A draw, however, would open the door for Arsenal who would win their first title since 2004 on goal difference should they claim three points against Everton.
Should the unthinkable happen and City lose against West Ham, Arsenal would finish one point ahead of their rivals with a win over the Toffees.
