Wike sets up committee to curb influx of Almajiri in FCT

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has set up a committee to address the influx of Almajiris in the the nation’s capital, Abuja.

The Commissioner of Police in charge of the FCT, Olatunji Disu, made this known while briefing newsmen after a closed-door security meeting chaired by the FCT Minister.

According to the police commissioner, the move by the minister is to ensure security agencies are abreast with details of Almajiris, especially their activities which include welfare and schooling.

While dismissing questions bordering on security threats in the nation’s capital, Disu urged residents to be security conscious and report any suspicious activity to security agencies.

Newspot reports that the committee which comprises the Nigerian Police, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Department of State Service, DSS, among others, have been mandated to report back within two weeks.

Meanwhile, the FCT Commissioner of Police disclosed that the command has arrested five suspects for various crimes.
