Real Madrid are without Thibaut Courtois and Rodrygo for their La Liga clash against Barcelona on Saturday evening.

Courtois played a full game earlier this week as Madrid came from behind to beat Borussia Dortmund 5-2 in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

However, the 32-year-old goalkeeper has now been ruled out of El Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu due to a hip injury.

‘Following tests carried out on our player Thibaut Courtois by Real Madrid’s medical services, he has been diagnosed with an adductor injury in his left leg,’ Madrid said in a statement on Wednesday.

It’s understood that Courtois will also miss Madrid’s La Liga match against Valencia on November 2, as well as their Champions League tie at home to AC Milan on November 5.

Ahead of the game, Barcelona sit top of La Liga, three points clear of Madrid.

Hansi Flick’s side also delivered an impressive display in the Champions League as they sealed a 4-1 victory at home to Bayern Munich on Wednesday, with Brazilian forward Raphinha scoring a hat-trick.

Speaking ahead of the game, Carlo Ancelotti was asked about the strong start Barcelona have made to the campaign under Flick.

‘Barcelona have a very clear way of playing and are doing a good job,’ Ancelotti said.

‘They are a brave team and we have to prepare to play as well as we possibly can.

‘We’re preparing for the game so we’re able to do the right things with and without the ball. They might press high and our front line will adapt, and the same goes for when they drop. You have to put in a complete performance to win these games and we’ll try and do that.’

When asked about Lamine Yamal, Ancelotti said: ‘He’s started his career in spectacular fashion, I love the way he plays and his attitude.

‘He’s a dangerous player but we can’t afford to focus too much on that. We have to consider the opposition’s quality, but first and foremost we have to focus on what we’re doing.

‘We respect them because they’re performing very well and everyone has seen that. They’ve had a very strong start to the season.’
