The summer 2022 transfer window promises to be one of the most exciting in years, with big names like Kylian Mbappe, Paul Pogba, and Erling Haaland expected to change hands.
The January transfer window saw more of a shake up than usual, but summer remains the most active time for player movement across Europe’s top leagues.
So, when does the transfer window open – and when is the deadline to sign players?
Here are those all-important dates.
When does the football transfer window open?
The summer 2022 transfer window for Premier League clubs will open on Friday, June 10.
This is line with other European leagues – La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, and Ligue 1.
However, it is worth noting that most major deals wont go through until the start of July as player contracts typically expire on June 30.
There is no major international European tournament scheduled for the summer, which should make the transfer window easier to navigate for most clubs.
When does the football transfer window close?
The Premier League transfer window will officially close on Thursday, September 1 at 11pm.
Other European Leagues also close at this date, but the deadline times vary between 5pm to midnight.
Clubs are eligible to sign players who are out of contract after the closure of the transfer window.
Players can also be sold to clubs in a country whose window is still open or join non-league sides at any stage of the season.
