Comedian and popular podcast host Joe Rogan has tested positive for Covid-19, which has led to him postponing upcoming shows.

However, the news comes after his controversial comments surrounding Covid-19 vaccine and vaccine passports earlier this year.

During his show in April, he said: ‘If you’re a healthy person, and you’re exercising all the time, and you’re young, and you’re eating well […] like, I don’t think you need to worry about this.’

And now, Joe has left health experts concerned after revealing what he’s been using to ‘treat’ Covid-19.

Read on to discover what worrisome techniques the American star is using.

In the video where Joe Rogan revealed he had Covid-19, the podcaster also said he had been using Ivermectin to treat it.

He said: ‘We immediately threw the kitchen sink at it: all kinds of meds. Monoclonal antibodies, Ivermectin, Z-pack, prednisone – everything.’

Ivectermin is a livestock de-worming medicine that he believes will help to cure the virus.

However, while the medicine has been prescribed to humans to fight parasitic infections, it is not to be used for treating Covid-19 according to the FDA.

The FDA website says: ‘FDA has not approved Ivermectin for use in treating or preventing COVID-19 in humans […] Ivermectin is not an anti-viral (a drug for treating viruses).’

It also states that taking large doses of Ivermectin ‘is dangerous and can cause serious harm’.

The reason Joe may have opted for the drug is because an Australian study led by Australia’s Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute (BDI) found that it could kill Covid-19 under lab conditions.

And, despite its researchers warning against it, it soon became popularly promoted among politicians and right-wing media.

However, the drug’s manufacturer, Merck, stated that there was no scientific basis for the drug to be used as treatment against Covid-19.

In the US, prescriptions for the drug have soared from 3,600 weekly before the pandemic to more than 88,000 in a week last month, per CDC data.

At the same time, poison control centers have seen calls related to Ivermectin explode, reaching five times their usual rate in July, the Washington Post reported.

In July, University of Oxford scientists revealed that are trialing giving Ivermectin to people with Covid-19 symptoms to see if it can keep them out of hospital – but the findings of this are yet to be reported.
