The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Bauchi State Command, Mr Patrick Ikaba says the rate of road accidents has reduced in the first and second quarter of this year 2023.

He told Newspot on Thursday in his office that the command had reduced the rate of road accidents in the State as a result of new strategies employed in the sector.

He further explained that in the first quarter of this year 2023, the command recorded 91 road crashes, which included 29 fatal road crashes, 61 serious and one minor accident.

Adding that in the second quarter of 2023, total number of road crashes were 68, which included 22 fatal crashes, 45 serious and one minor accident.

”You can believe with me that with these statistics, road crashes have reduced drastically in our State,” he said.

The Sector Commander, however, expressed his determination to sustain the development and emphasized the need for the installation of Speed Limiting Device on commercial vehicles to avoid over speeding which is the main cause of road accidents.

”We’ll collaborate with our sister agencies in this regard to put pressure on this policy with a view to saving lives and property of our citizens,“ he added.

On passengers’ manifest, the Commander warned that any commercial vehicle flying the road without passengers’ manifest would be sanctioned.

“Commercial drivers are hereby warned to desist from flying the roads without manifest as the command would not leave any stone unturned in punishing offenders,” he declared.

He called on the road users to always abide by the traffic rules and regulations to save lives.

While calling on parents to desist from the attitude of giving cars to their children under 18 years, he said the law would not take it lightly with any child arrested.
