The General Superintendent of Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor Williams Kumuyi, has urged Nigerians to vote consciously in the 2023 general elections to elect new leaders for the country.
The renown evangelist and convener of Global Crusade, who said that the government and appropriate authorities had assured of peaceful, free and fair elections, said the citizens owed it a duty to perform their civic duties in the exercise of their rights.
Kumuyi, who spoke with journalists on arrival in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday night for a global crusade tagged, “Transformation for total triumph”, billed to begin on Thursday, said the crusade would be another opportunity for humans to carve a vision for themselves with the view of transforming society.
He said, “I believe that every citizen knows that it is our right as well as our responsibility to vote for a leader of our choice. My charge is that every one of us should vote consciously, people should go to the polls and vote for the leader we know.
“The sitting president has assured us that the election will be free and fair. On the issue of attacks on some INEC facilities, I think those in charge of the administration of election are trying to manage the whole thing and they are assuring us that the elections will still hold.
“They are assuring that we will have good elections and that Nigerian electorate are going to choose a leader of their own choice that will lead us after this administration,” he said.
The cleric, who said that the GCK crusades holding in Ekiti State and as well across the globe were targeted at ensuring the transformation of lives and the global community, said, “My vision and focus is that whatever I have learnt, whatever I have got spiritually, academically and vision wise, I want to pass to the next generation.
“So, the crusades we are having are not the normal kind of crusades. My own understanding of the real crusade is to look at every man and let him see: ‘Why I am I here on earth? What should I focus on? What am I going to achieve? Have I done what I need to do? Am I going to change the world in which I am?’
“That means I should speak to the young people, I want to challenge them to know that here you are, what marks have you made and it is not too late. And also for the old generation, to tell them you can start now,” Kumuyi said.
The preacher said it was never late for anybody to make lasting impacts. “During the Second World War, Charles de Gaulle was the one that galvanized all those support for French people. We would have forgotten France by now, but he was able to bring millions of them together and that is why France is still standing now.
“That is a kind of mind I have for our country – our young people, for Africans and for our world today”.
Kumuyi, who said he met Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji before his inauguration, said, “I believe that the Lord will help him to move Ekiti State from where it is now so that we will see definite marks of improvement”.
