In a significant move to streamline the visa application process, Nigeria’s Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) has announced an upgrade to its online visa application system. The initiative, discussed in a recent meeting between Princess Zahrah Mustapha Audu, the Director General of PEBEC, and the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, aims to enhance the Visa on Arrival (VOA) process.

As part of these improvements, travellers applying for short-stay visas will now receive approvals within 24 to 48 hours. Once approved, applicants will receive their visa directly via email, eliminating the need for a physical sticker upon arrival. This upgrade builds upon the existing online application system, allowing for a more efficient and user-friendly experience.

The Minister of Interior reassured that the VOA process is not being scrapped but is being refined to cut down inefficiencies. This development is expected to bolster Nigeria’s reputation as a travel-friendly destination, further attracting foreign investment and improving the business environment.

With these enhancements, Nigeria is taking significant steps toward modernizing its travel protocols, ensuring that both local and international travellers can navigate the visa process with ease.
