Several reactions trailed online as a video of youths stealing bags of cement from a burning truck in Benue state surfaced online as Nigerians lament over the high price of cement in the present economic condition.
In the video, the truck was captured burning intensely on a major road during the day. The burning truck, loaded with bags of cement happened to be owned by a notable cement manufacturer.
According to eye witness, there was no record of death, and the cause of the fire accident is unknown to the public.
Amidst the blazing fire and smoke emitting from the truck, the youths, mostly men were spotted in the accident scene offloading the bags of cement in a rushed manner, carrying bags and absconding with it through a nearby bush path on the road.
The youths opted to steal bags of cement from the burning truck rather than put out the fire.
The surprising action of the youths has sparked discussion concerning the current economic condition of the country. Many emphasized the price of cement including how the youths had to risk their lives to survive.
While some lamented about the loss of the cement manufacturer, others noted that a bag of cement is more than the average Nigerian income.
