The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs(NSCIA), and notable Media Executives have commiserated with the veteran and seasoned journalist, Alh. Najeem Jimoh, and his family over the death of their son, Fareed Olalekan Jimoh.
Fareed, born on 14th May, 1989, died on 4th April, 2023, after a brief illness and has been buried according to Islamic injunctions at the Oke Ata Family House, Abeokuta, Ogun State. He is survived by both parents and his siblings.
Imam Kuto, Abeokuta, Sheikh Abdul Muiz Bello, in a sermon prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased. According to him, death was inevitable and restated the imperative of living a godly and impactful life as life was fleeting and ephemeral.
The Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, while delivering a letter of condolence from the NSCIA to the family, commended Alh. Jimoh for raising a dutiful and righteous son at a time when many Muslim parents were being distracted by the lures of this world. He said the death of Fareed was not only a loss to the family but also a great loss to the Muslim Ummah and prayed that the Almighty Allah would grant the departed soul Aljanat fridaus and the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
In the said letter of condolence, the NSCIA echoed the immutable decree of Allah, which had informed believers that “every soul shall taste of death, and you will be paid on the day of resurrection only what you have fairly earned, whoever is removed from the furnace and provided with a place in paradise is indeed triumphant. The life of this world is but ephemeral comfort in man’s sheer illusion”(Quran 3:185).
Also in attendance were notable Islamic scholars like the Asiwaju Olomokewu of Egbaland, Sheikh Fadilulahi; Imam Gambari’s delegation from Ilorin, Alefatu Li Quadriyah from Lagos State; Egba Muslim Community led by Sheikh Sadulah Bamgboola; Chief Imam of Kuto Land, Sheikh Abdul Muiz Bello; and Chief Tayo Sowunmi, the Baba Adini of Egba Land.

Fasiu Bakenne; the Publisher/Editor-in- Chief of the Point Newspaper, Alhaja Lateefat Yemi Kolapo; Alhaji Sefiu Alao Adekunle; Ogun State JAMB Coordinator, Mr. Abdulhakeem AbdulHameed; and other important dignitaries.
