Former Ajax director, Edwin van der Sar, has confirmed he is out of intensive care and could leave hospital next week.
The former goalkeeper suffered a brain haemorrhage earlier this month.
However, on Tuesday, he sent out an extremely positive update on his situation.
The 52-year-old posted a picture of himself and his wife in the hospital on Twitter and wrote: “First of all, we want to thank everyone for all the great and supportive messages.
“I’m happy to share that I’m no longer in the intensive care unit. However, I’m still in hospital. I hope to go home next week and take the next step in my recovery!”
Van der Sar suffered the injury after he collapsed while on holiday in Croatia. He was subsequently transferred back to the Netherlands where he had remained in intensive care.
