Former Bayern Munich midfielder, Owen Hargreaves has told Erik ten Hag to unleash Alejandro Garnacho against Barcelona in their Europa League playoff second leg clash at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils played out a thrilling 2-2 draw in the first leg at Camp Nou on Thursday night, with the two sides facing each other again next week in Manchester.
Marcos Alonso opened the scoring for Barcelona early in the second-half, but Rashford struck back two minutes later and Raphinha’s goal levelled the game 14 minutes from full-time. United will be hopeful of finishing the job on their own turf.
Hargreaves highlighted Xavi’s men’s weaknesses and believes Garnacho, who came on as a late substitute, will be ‘perfect’ for punishing Barcelona next week.
Asked what Barcelona needed to do better in Manchester, Hargreaves told BT Sport: “It felt like in the transitions they were too vulnerable, they were too open…
“Maybe Garnacho plays, I think he will be perfect in that.
“Maybe he [ten Hag] plays it slightly differently.”
