Turki Alalshikh has disagreed with Tyson Fury’s claim that he won his rematch against OIeksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia on Saturday night.
Usyk cemented his status as the best heavyweight in the world with another impressive display against Fury, with all three judges scoring the fight 116-112 in favour of the Ukrainian.
Speaking after suffering the second loss of his career, Fury described the judges’ scoring as a ‘Christmas gift’ and was adamant that he had done enough to beat Usyk.
However, Turki Alalshikh, Saudi’s boxing kingpin, agrees that Usyk deserved to win by a four-round margin.
‘I thought he [Usyk] won, he had four rounds more, by my count,’ Turki Alalshikh told The Stomping Ground after Fury’s loss.
‘Tyson did everything, had an amazing fight but this is boxing, there is one winner and one loser.
‘Next I want, if [Daniel] Dubois wins [against Joseph Parker] in February, I want to see Usyk and Dubois again.
‘I wanted to see Tyson maybe with [Anthony] Joshua, we will decide. Let’s see what can happen. Everything in Riyadh Season is realistic.’
Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, described the scoring as ‘impossible’ and claimed Fury was ‘gutted’ after his consecutive loss to Usyk.
‘I’m dumbfounded,’ Warren said.
‘They gave him four rounds, out of twelve rounds, which is impossible. I mean, I’ve been around a long time and I know I am biased. But one judge couldn’t give him any round from round six onwards… not one round! How can that be? That’s impossible.
‘Same with the other judge here; he gave him one round out of the last six. And then same here with this guy. It’s crazy. I’m calm and collected. I’m not screaming and shouting. But that is just nonsense.
‘He’s gutted. He thought he won it. Of course, we are biased. But I am not stupid biased. I’m saying from what I’m looking at.
‘I don’t know what he wants to do. I don’t even going to get into that. It was a good boxing performance by him. He used all his physical attributes, he stayed focused.’
