President-elect Donald Trump has vowed to eliminate birthright citizenship, which currently grants citizenship to anyone born in the United States as per the 14th Amendment.

In his first broadcast interview since winning the election in November, Trump spoke with NBC’, where he reaffirmed his commitment to deporting undocumented immigrants, even those with family members who are US citizens.

“We’re going to have to get it changed. We’ll maybe have to go back to the people, but we have to end it,” he stated.

He also expressed his readiness to work with Democrats to support “Dreamers,” young undocumented immigrants who were brought to the US as children.

Trump further revealed that he would pursue pardons for those convicted in relation to the 2021 US Capitol riot once he takes office next month.

He criticized the conditions faced by those incarcerated for their involvement, calling them “filthy” and “disgusting.”

“These people are living in hell, I’ll be acting very quickly, first day,” he said.
