Washington, D.C.— In a dramatic move drawing fresh attention to the influence of fringe figures in American politics, former President Donald Trump has reportedly dismissed three National Security Council (NSC) staffers following pressure from far-right activist and conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer.
According to a report by CNN, Loomer met with Trump in the Oval Office on Wednesday, where she urged him to oust certain NSC officials she described as “disloyal.” Shortly after the meeting, three senior staffers—Brian Walsh, Director for Intelligence; Thomas Boodry, Senior Director for Legislative Affairs; and David Feith, Senior Director for Technology and National Security—were reportedly fired.
Key administration figures present at the meeting included Vice President JD Vance, Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, and National Security Adviser Mike Waltz.
Loomer, known for her controversial social media presence and unfiltered conspiracy-driven rhetoric, has targeted several Trump officials online. Among them is Alex Wong, the deputy national security adviser, whom Loomer accused of disloyalty due to his wife’s previous work at the Justice Department during the Biden administration.
She further claimed Wong intentionally added The Atlantic’s Editor-in-Chief, Jeffrey Goldberg, to a private Signal chat that included discussions about potential military action against Yemen’s Houthi rebels. Loomer suggested the alleged mishap was part of a “foreign op to embarrass the Trump administration on behalf of China.”
The far-right figure, who once described the 9/11 attacks as an “inside job,” also stirred controversy with racist and sexist attacks on former Vice President Kamala Harris during last year’s campaign. More recently, Loomer clashed with Elon Musk over claims of censorship on X (formerly Twitter), after her account was reportedly de-verified for criticizing Musk’s support of H-1B visas for skilled foreign workers.
In an interview with Steve Bannon, Loomer warned that Trump’s alliance with Musk could endanger his political comeback. “I am simply trying to warn the Trump administration about something that’s going to blow up in their face,” she said, “and it actually has the risk of potentially getting President Trump impeached in his second term.”
This latest shake-up further fuels concerns over the growing sway of conspiracy theorists in shaping Trump’s policy decisions and national security strategy—especially as he eyes a possible return to the White House.
