Legends are made by what they lived for and, defended the purpose of their existence. To say the least, it is often said that the king is over and above all. However, in his characteristically humble manner, our Kabiyesi, Oba Olusegun Ayodele Akinbola, The Aladeokun of Alade-Idanre.

You never ruled like those who forget tomorrow rather, you left a legacy worthy of emulation for eternal remembrance among your subjects. Your reign was great , peaceful and value added. You took us to a position in the anal of history where fear and trembling are no more part of our people at the instance of your boldness and tenacity to change the narratives in the land.

Your departure to the great beyond is a big vacuum too big to fill, a mega size shoe which no one can dare to wear.
We missed you Kabiesi !


But we take solace in our own consolation springing from path of liberation and legacy that you left behind, is enough to celebrate your departure here while you take eternal rest with your forefathers and Maker.

Oh our sunshine, Kaabiyesi, the dark night came the moment death struck took you away from us just like the speed of light. Everybody misses you even those that hated you. Why? Simple! Because apart from Christ Jesus, you were the only man that could lay down his life, fight and die for humanity. Such a big-hearted, loving, caring and kind dad you were.

We call you father of all nations handily fought for his people throughout his reign. This alone is a demonstration of a man who is selfless and served his people no matter the consequences. You were indeed a great leader. You left a memorable legacy, We promised to follow suit.

His demise in the entire Alade Community has left a vacuum in the minds of all who know him and love him because he is a symbol of Love and encouraging. He is call father because of his advices and love.

It is true we cannot question God but we have learnt to accept his will. You are a gem, you are gone but never to be forgotten, your legacy will still live on.

Even though we mourn the passing away of our beloved King and Father after One year, we thank God Almighty for the good legacy, of hard work, honesty and transparency of life in the church in the family and in the community. What more can we say?

We cherished your unmundaned desires in which you manifested trustfulness, Love and purity, a virtue your distracters could not comprehend.

The Late Alayeluwa Oba Olusegun Ayodele Akinbola was born on the 6th of March 1941
in llesa to Late Chief Joshua Melakinnu Akinbola and Chief (Mrs.) Adelaide Abiola
Akinbola. His father being a school Headmaster and the mother a domestic science
He attended several primary schools because he had to change schools with his Father,
who was a Headmaster, wherever he was transferred. He therefore, attended:
i. St. Michaels Primary School, Ilara Mokin
ii. United School Primary School, Iju Itaogbolu
iii. Jubilee Central School, Ikare- Akoko
iv. Methodist Primary School Yaba, Lagos
Late Oba Akinbola was a product of Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure and later he
attended the University of Ibadan to study Theatre Arts. He also did all his Post Graduate
Studies at the University of Wales, Cardiff. He therefore, had the opportunity of working
in Oxford University Theatre; Leeds University Theatre; Sharman Theatre, Cardiff and
the popular Shakespeare Theatre in Stat ford-upon-Avon. He went on training and
different festivals to Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh; Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh; Daniel
Serano Theatre, Dakar; National Black Theatre, New York City and Herbst Theatre, San
Francisco, All Nigeria University Theatres built before 1995 and All Cultural Centre
Theatres built before 1995
He joined the Nigerian Television Service Channel 10 in 1967, where he rose to the
position of Senior Producer in 1971. He also worked briefly with B.B.C Glasgow and
World Broadcasting Television, Hilversum, Holland. He recorded huge advertising
experience of the following establishments;
i. Lintas International (Nigeria) Ltd.,
ii. S.H. Benson (Nigeria) Ltd.,
iii. Promoserve (Nigeria) Ltd. and
iv. Media International (Nigeria) Ltd.
As a television producer he was lucky to be one of the pioneering producers of the
popular Village Headmaster series created in 1968 by Ambassador Segun Olusola. In
fact, late Oba Olusegun Akinbola was the second producer/director of the village
Headmaster after HRM Oba Olusanya Dosumu, the Olowu of Owu Egbaland, who Oba
Akinbola pioneered with. Also he produced and directed plays by Hubert Ogunde, Duro
Ladipo, Kola Ogunmola, Femi Philips, Oyin Adejobi, Oluyole Theartre, Kayode
Olajuyigbe, Akin Ogungbe, Isola Ogunsola, Osunmare Theartre, Ayinla Olumegbon.

He ascended the throne of Aladeokun, Alade Idanre, ruled for 25years before answering the call of his Maker.

We sure know and believed that you have gone to a better place, enjoying a new lease on life where pain and sickness do not exist. We miss you Kaabiyesi. Adieu; rest in the bosom of the Lord.

We will love you eternally. You may be gone but you will never be forgotten.
