The National and State House of Assembly Elections Petitions Tribunal in Plateau State has nullified the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party candidate for Langtang North/Langtang South Federal constituency, Beni Lar.
Lar, a fifth-term lawmaker, was elected to represent the federal constituency on the platform of the PDP during the February 25 National Assembly poll.
Justice Justice Mohammed Tukur who led the panel in his judgement on Tuesday evening hinged the nullification of Lar’s victory on the failure of her party to conduct a valid nomination of her candidacy to contest the election
The tribunal therefore declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Vincent Bulus as the rightful winner of the National Assembly poll.
Lar’s electoral loss brings to four, the number of PDP candidates whose elections had been nullified in the state by the tribunal.
