Transfer: Manchester United’s offer for Marko Arnautovic confirmed

Marko Arnautovic’s brother and agent has effectively confirmed Manchester United’s move for the Australian striker.

The veteran striker is said to be considering a transfer request to secure a move to Old Trafford.

Shocking reports emerged linking the 33-year-old Bologna striker with a £7million switch to Old Trafford.

Bologna are said to have rejected the first offer made by Manchester United, but the player’s agent Danijel Arnautovic is hopeful an agreement can be reached.

“It is true that there is an offer from a well-known club.

“I’m in contact with Bologna to see if that can be realised,” he told Austrian newspaper Kurier, according to Metro.

Arnautovic, a former West Ham and Stoke City striker, scored 14 goals in the Italian top-flight last season and had attracted interest from Juventus.

Manchester United’s new boss, Erik ten Hag and his assistant coach, McClaren know Arnautovic from their time at Twente.

Erik ten Hag was forced to field Christian Eriksen as a false nine on Sunday following Cristiano Ronaldo’s lack of fitness and injury to Anthony Martial.

This means that the Red Devils are desperate to sign an alternative.

Meanwhile, Manchester United started the new campaign on a sad note, falling 2-1 at home to Brighton in ten Hag’s first competitive match in charge of the club.
