Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand has expressed his disappointment with the way the club have handled goalkeeper David de Gea’s contract situation.

De Gea, who has been at Man United for over a decade, looks set to leave the club with his contract expiring on June 30.

The Red Devils reportedly offered De Gea an extension on reduced terms from his existing contract but withdrew it after the 32-year-old agreed to sign.

Erik ten Hag’s side then offered the Spain international another contract with a further reduction in wages, which De Gea has refused to sign so far.

Speaking about De Gea’s situation, Ferdinand lamented the treatment of the shot-stopper.
