Tottenham are reportedly still interested in signing Everton star Anthony Gordon who was heavily linked to Chelsea over the summer.

After an impressive breakthrough season at Goodison Park, Gordon was the subject of much transfer speculation during the last window especially from Tottenham and Chelsea.

Spurs’ main focus was on signing Gordon’s teammate Richarlison however, who eventually moved to north London for around £51million, whilst the Blues made multiple bids for the 21-year-old, the last of which worth £60m.

Everton rejected all advances for the England U21 international however, with Toffees boss Frank Lampard determined to hold onto the forward.

It was reported that Gordon was unhappy with Lampard for blocking the move and some believe that the failed transfer may still be affecting his form, as he has netted just three goals in 13 appearances so far this campaign.

This could well play into Tottenham’s hands though, with The Sun reporting that Antonio Conte’s side are preparing to move again for Gordon when the transfer window reopens in January.

Conte is keen to add another creative forward to his squad, having seen how badly Tottenham struggled after losing Dejan Kulusevski to injury earlier this season.

While Kulusevski has since recovered, both Richarlison and Son Heung-min are currently sidelined, severely hurting Spurs’ depth up top.

While Everton will still be likely unwilling to sell, in spite of Gordon’s wishes, Tottenham ought to face less competition for the player as it has also been reported that Chelsea have dropped their interest in Gordon.

New Blues boss Graham Potter is said to not be keen to bring him to Stamford Bridge and has convinced chairman Todd Boehly off pursuing the player.

In order to stave off any interest, Everton have opened talks with Gordon over a new and improved contract with his current deal set to expire in 2025.
