There’s a blessing in everything that happens to us. It’s never too late. Don’t focus on what was taken away. Find something to replace it, and acknowledge the blessings you have. I think in every lesson there’s a blessing, and there’s so many blessings from all the lessons I’ve had to go through in life. The harvest of old age is the recollection and abundance of blessing previously secured.
I have found that, rather than dwelling on the negative, if we will take a step back and consider the blessings in our lives, including seemingly small, sometimes overlooked blessings, we can find greater happiness. Reflect upon your present blessings, of which every man has plenty; not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some. When I started counting my blessings, my whole life turned around. Gratitude turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity… it makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.
