In a significant political development, President Bola Tinubu convened a meeting with members of the Lagos State House of Assembly at the State House in Abuja on Wednesday evening. The gathering aimed to address the ongoing leadership crisis within the assembly.
The legislators, who arrived in two coaster buses, proceeded to the President’s office area to await the meeting. Among those present were the reinstated Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, and the current Deputy Speaker, Hon. Mojisola Meranda.
Meranda, alongside her colleagues, arrived shortly after 2 PM, while Obasa arrived separately at approximately 2:50 PM. The meeting’s agenda is believed to be closely linked to the recent turmoil in the assembly, which saw Obasa impeached by a majority of House members before being reinstated following intervention from key political figures in the state.
Details of the discussions remain under wraps, but the meeting underscores the importance of unity and stability within the Lagos State legislative body amidst recent challenges.
