Three suspected kidnappers killed in Adamawa


The Adamawa State Police Command has killed three suspected kidnappers.

The Command said in a statement released Sunday that it disconnected a criminal network at Damare Hill which connects part of Holma and Sorau in Song and Maiha local government areas and gunned down the three suspects.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said in the statement that the operation which was carried out by the Command operatives attached to Sorau Division and hunters at Damare Hill yielded a positive result.

The police describe Damare Hill as a grazing reserve situated at a remote side of Sorau District, Holma Village in Maiha and Song local government areas bordering the Cameroon Republic when the encounter with the suspects took place.

“The suspected kidnappers upon sighting our men, engaged them in a gun duel, as a result three of them were neutralized, and others escaped with bullet wounds,” the police stated.


The statement said the police rescued four victims, namely Hafsatu Musa, 50 years; Idirisa Hammadu, 20 years; Abdul Adamu, 20 years; and Musa Hammadu, 22 years, all residents of Holma/Maiha in Song and Maiha local government areas.

The police added that two AK-47 rifles, one pump action gun, as well as handsets, padlocks, and charms were recovered from the suspects.
