Seven-year-old Tony Hudgell appeared on This Morning alongside his adoptive parents, with fans instantly taken in by his fantastic personality and incredible story.

The youngster was abused as a baby by his biological parents, which eventually led to him having his legs amputated after being admitted to hospital with multiple organ failures, fractures and sepsis when he was just one month old.

On the show today, he was proudly showing off his new prosthetic legs – which are helping him walk properly for the first time – alongside parents Paula and Mark.

Mum Paula explained the impact his new prosthetic legs are continuing to have on his life.

She told hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary: ‘He does venture out now without the crutches, its just incredible to see him like that

‘It means that he’s at the same level of his peers, has access to so much more and can play with his friends at school.’

Mark added of his young son’s achievements: ‘He’s done incredibly well.’

It was also a very special day for the seven-year-old as he marked his birthday live on the show.

After Dermot pretended they’d ‘eaten all the Quality Street,’ the presenter had a fantastic surprise in store for the guest as he pulled out a hamper of gifts from behind the famous sofa.

Tony looked shocked to see the presents and sweetly exclaimed: ‘I am surprised!’

He continued to examine the gifts – including tickets for an upcoming Champions League game at his favourite team Chelsea – telling the hosts he ‘100 percent’ wanted to see them play.

Those at home watching absolutely loved Tony’s appearance and praised the guest and his hilarious reaction to his gifts on Twitter.

One wrote: ‘Best guest all week is Tony #ThisMorning.’

‘Tony Hudgell, what a lovely little boy and all he’s overcome bless him! #ThisMorning,’ said another.

A third shared: ‘Tony is the sweetest boy I’ve ever seen. He was so happy with his presents. Happy birthday and hope he has a good day @thismorning @AlisonHammond #ThisMorning.’

Another viewer echoed: ‘That kid was adorable! Made my day seeing his little face light up like that! #thismorning.’

Tony has previously appeared on several shows before in recent months, such as BBC Breakfast, chatting about his fantastic fundraising efforts.

Alison revealed the guest has since raised over £1.8million, with his parents today announcing a new foundation they had set-up in their son’s name.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
