The Lagos State Public Works Corporation has assured members of the public of government’s commitment to addressing pockets of potholes on other sections of the Third Mainland Bridge.
The agency,in a statement signed by the Assistant Director, Public Affairs, Samuel Ayetutu, revealed that some repair work was on Sunday carried out at the inbound and
outbound sections of the bridge along the University of Lagos axis.
According to the General Manager, LSPWC, Lateef Somide, the agency decided to carry out the repair work despite the bridge falling under the jurisdiction of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency.
He said this was in line with the directive of the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who wanted the safety of Lagosians and free flow of goods and people in the state.
‘’You will recall that LSPWC, on the directive of Mr Governor, carried out a similar operation on the bridge in August 2022 to reduce the pain being experienced by Lagosians,” he said.
Somide also revealed that there was a synergy between the Federal Government and the state towards tackling road defects, adding that “if need be, LSPWC may still carry out maintenance activities on other sections of the road while FERMA is putting finishing touches to its plans for a comprehensive maintenance work.’’
He assured Lagosians in other parts of the state that the agency would soon intervene in their situation so as to make Lagos a state with motorable roads.
