Thiago Silva has received offers from three Premier League clubs to join on a free transfer this summer, according to reports in Brazil.
Earlier this week, the 39-year-old announced that he will leave Stamford Bridge once his contract expires at the end of the season.
It’s understood that the Brazilian defender has already reached a verbal agreement to return to his boyhood club Fluminense this summer.
However, TNT Sports Brazil report that Thiago Silva has the opportunity to remain in the Premier League for at least another season as three London-based teams have offered him a deal.
However, it’s claimed that Thiago Silva’s preference is to return to Fluminense and that he is reluctant to play against one of Chelsea’s Premier League rivals.
One factor that could tempt Thiago Silva to remain in the Premier League is the fact that his wife and children are expected to remain in London, regardless of his next move.
The Brazilian’s two sons currently play for Chelsea’s academy sides.
‘I hope they can continue their careers here at this victorious club that many players wish to be part of,’ Thiago Silva said when announcing his Chelsea exit thisweek.
‘I think in everything I did here over the four years, I always gave my all. But, unfortunately, everything has a start, a middle and an end.
‘That doesn’t mean that this is a definitive end. I hope to leave the door open so that in the near future I can return, albeit in another role here.’
Thiago Silva may have already played his final game for Chelsea after he was forced off with a groin injury in the 2-2 draw against Aston Villa last Saturday.
The Brazilian defender will miss Chelsea’s Premier League clash against Tottenham at Stamford Bridge on Thursday evening.
