Liverpool players Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip are going into the final years of their contracts and there are ‘no signs’ of extensions for them beyond next summer.
Matip has been a stalwart of the Jurgen Klopp era at Anfield, arriving on a free transfer from Schalke in the summer of 2016.
It has turned out to be an excellent bit of business with the defender playing 187 times for the Reds, scoring 11 goals and winning the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup.
Thiago arrived from Bayern Munich in 2020 for an initial £20m and has been hampered by injury problems but has still made 97 appearances for the club, scoring three goals.
He missed the Premier League and Champions League glories, but got his hands on the FA Cup last year.
Both will be hoping that they can add more silverware to their CVs over the coming season, but The Athletic report that it is likely to be their final campaigns with the club and will leave next summer on free transfers.
The report states that a new deal for Trent Alexander-Arnold will be a priority for the club in the coming months, though, with the England star’s current deal expiring in 2025.
In terms of summer signings, Liverpool are reportedly considering a move for RB Leipzig forward Dominik Szoboszlai and have met with his representatives.
Fabio Carvalho is expected to make a loan move the other way, joining RB Leipzig on a short-term contract, but the moves are not connected.
