Jurgen Klopp said his goodbyes to Liverpool fans on the final day of the Premier League season but he will be making a swift return to Anfield.

The 56-year-old chose to leave Liverpool for a break from football after nearly nine years in charge of the club, winning the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup along the way.

It was an emotional farewell to his devoted fans at Anfield after a 2-0 win over Wolves on Sunday, but Klopp took the opportunity to encourage them to support his replacement, Dutchman Arne Slot.

The German now plans to take an indefinite break from the game, although he will be a target for any top job that comes up in football in the coming months.

However, he is not taking a long break from Anfield as he revealed he will return in June to see Taylor Swift perform at Liverpool’s home.

The Athletic report that Klopp had a long Q&A session with Liverpool staff before he left the club and revealed that his wife, Ulla, had bought a pair of tickets to see Swift in action next month.

The Era’s Tour has three dates at Anfield from 13-15 June, with Mr and Mrs Klopp taking the opportunity to see the American superstar perform where Jurgen has worked for nearly a decade.

Klopp revealed the news after being asked what music he listens to, before giving a quick rendition of Swift’s hit Shake It Off.

It is a long stretch from the heavy metal, which his footballing philosophy has long been compared to.

The iconic manager does not intend to be a stranger at Anfield going forward, saying in his final post-match press conference that he will be back next season as a fan.

‘I will come back occasionally just, how I said, as a supporter now, and I’m fine with that, honestly,’ he said.

‘Maybe not for the first game of the season – that’s early (17 August), wow! Maybe after the second international break or something like this.’
