Sunday, 22nd December 2024 marked a monumental history in Ijesaland when the first edition of the Ijesa Cultural Festival tagged IWUDE IJESA UNITY FESTIVAL was celebrated.
It recorded an unexpected large turnout of elegant, radiant, and beautifully costumed Ijesa Societies and Clubs who came out in their respective different attires to register a bold presence in the global cultural world.
Over 35 major Pan-Ijesa Societies and Clubs registered their presence at the maiden festival with attendance of Ijesa Traditional Rulers drawn from all the six local governments in Ijesaland.
The icing on the cake was the elegant filing out of each of these elegantly attired Societies and Clubs dancing to the equally classy Juju music of Ayo Balogun Band.
The Chairman of the event and the Asiwaju of Ijesaland, Asiwaju Olayinka Fasuyi and his Yeye Asiwaju of Ijesaland Dr Olubisi Fasuyi, the eminent royal fathers drawn from the six LGAs in Ijesaland acknowledged greetings from the beautiful attirred citizens of Ijesaland as they processed in groups and societies and danced to the melodious music of Ayo Balogun..
The Iwude Ijesa Planning Committee under able leadership of Chief Afolabi Igbaroola and his vice Alagba Wale Idowu has succeeded in laying a solid foundation for the unity and progress in Ijesaland.
Finally, kudos and congratulations to all the Pan-Ijesa Societies and Clubs who made this history possible for Ijesaland.
In the spirit of Ijesa ethics and values, 52 Pan-Ijesa Societies and Clubs are already warming up to showcase their respective communities’ developmental projects ahead of the 2025 Iwude Ijesa Festival which holds on Sunday, 21st December 2025.
