Mo Gilligan and AJ Odudu will be fronting the return of The Big Breakfast and now a list of huge names who will also feature has been confirmed by Channel 4.

The show returns to screens on Friday at 8am for the broadcaster’s Black to Front Project, almost 30 years after first launching.

Black to Front will include some of the biggest names in British talent with stars such as Sir Trevor McDonald replacing Anne Robinson on Countdown and Spice Girl Mel B taking Steph McGovern’s spot on Steph’s Packed Lunch.

Viewers will see Mo and AJ at the helm, joined throughout the show by presenting favourites such as Loose Women’s Judi Love and Radio 1’s Melvin Odoom.

Channel has 4 revealed stars who will be appearing as guests on the revival of the hugely popular former breakfast show.

Legendary Olympic sprinter Usain Bolt, Chic’s Nile Rodgers and the smoothest guy in the acting world, Idris Elba, will be among those popping up on the programme.

Elsewhere, viewers will see musician duo Krept & Konan, Tokyo 2020 medallists Emily Campbell and Kye White as well as smash hit singer songwriter Eve.

Love Island’s Toby Aromolaran will also be welcomed into the studio fresh from finishing second in this year’s dating competition.

In an extra special dose of nostalgia for viewers, the show will come live from its original location in East London, the Lock Keeper’s Cottages.

There will be a chance for viewers to relive some classic Big Breakfast features including Family of the Week, Super Hints and Don’t Phone.

The broadcaster has also promised some ‘surprise guests’ during the marathon show, with no hints dropped as to who these might be.

Mo shared: ‘Like so many of us, I loved The Big Breakfast and I am so grateful to be asked to host this special event, particularly as part of such a hugely thrilling and history making day for British television!’

AJ added: ‘I absolutely can’t wait to get stuck into The Big Breakfast. It is such an iconic show to be part of and I am buzzing it is finally coming back!

‘I’m so looking forward to working with Mo and I can’t wait to wake up the nation! I’m thrilled to be part of Channel 4’s Black to Front Project – which quite rightly gives a platform to deserving Black British TV talent across our industry, both on and off-screen. It’s going to be really special,’ promised the presenter.

Melvin, who will act as the show’s roving reporter, and look for viewers to win play games for prizes, also spoke out on how The Big Breakfast was part of what ‘inspired’ him to get into the industry.

He commented: ‘With its colourful chaos in the mornings, it looked like the most fun job in the world, so it’s a real dream come true to be part of the squad bringing the show back and giving it our own flavour.

‘I’m really proud to be part of Channel 4’s Black to Front Project, which we hope will inspire another generation of TV talent on and off-screen.’

The Big Breakfast Special airs Friday from 8am on Channel 4.
