A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Shehu Sani, has lauded President Bola Tinubu for nominating an indigene of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, for a ministerial position.
Newspot reports that Zephaniah Jisalo, an indigene of the FCT, made the list of the second batch of ministerial nominees sent to the Senate by the President on Wednesday.
Since the country returned to democracy, no indigene of the territory (Gbagyi) has occupied a ministerial position.
Tinubu made history on Wednesday when he nominated Jisalo, a former member of the House of Representatives, as the first Abuja indigene to serve as a minister.
Reacting, Shehu Sani, in a tweet on his official handle, said the development was commendable, stressing that the years of prayers and protests of the indigenous people have been answered.
The former lawmaker wrote: “The indigenous people of Abuja now have a minister in the Federal Cabinet for the first time in history.
“Their years of prayers and protests have been answered. That is a commendable decision by the President.”
