Councilors from Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State have been charged to give peace a chance and work in unison for the progress of the area and the state at large.
The speaker of the state House of Assembly, Joseph Albasu Kunini, who gave the charge on Wednesday in Jalingo, the state capital, while playing host to the councilors in his office, also enjoined them to put behind them the recent crisis that led to change of leadership of the legislative council in order to forge ahead and deliver the dividends of democracy to the people at the grassroots in their various wards.
“Agreed, you all contested on the platforms of various political parties and won to become councilors; but now that you are at the legislative council of Karim Lamido local government area representing your various wards, set aside party differences and work as as a team.
“My passionate appeal to you as legislators at the local government level is for you to work in unison and harmony at the legislative council for the delivery of democracy to the people at the grassroots in your various wards,” he said.
While urging them to put behind the recent crisis that led to a change of leadership of the legislative council and work for the progress of the council and for the common good of the people.
Speaking through the new council leader of Amar Ward, Baba Mohammed Usman, the councilors unanimously agreed that they were endeared by the leadership style of the speaker, hence their decision to pay him a visit.
