Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba has again pledged his administration’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for international agencies to work effectively in the state.
The assurance came at the weekend when he played host to the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, Mathias Schmal, in Jalingo, the state capital.
The Governor said the presence of the international community in the state, will assist Tarabans and enhance their well-being.
He identified food security, access to quality health care, education, structural development and climate change as some of the issues posing a threat to the state
Despite the challenges, Governor Agbu pledged that his administration will remain resolute and determined to surmount the hurdles but stressed that tackling them requires collaboration and collective action.
He said the United Nations have a long-standing history of providing invaluable support to countries facing challenges and that his administration will prioritise initiatives to promote renewable energy, Agriculture and responsible resources management.
On his part, Mathias Schmal, the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, expressed the readiness and commitment of the international organisation to collaborate with the state.
He said the state has clear priorities that tally with the global development agenda, adding that building peace is core to the United Nations.
