The Governor of Taraba State, Agbu Kefas, has constituted a fourteen-member committee tasked with resolving the lingering crisis in the state chapter of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The committee, which was constituted on Wednesday, is led by the former Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Pakistan, Idris Waziri, as its Chairman.

The former Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General of the state, Barrister Sam Adda, serves as the Secretary.

According to a statement issued to journalists in Jalingo, the state capital, other members of the committee include Senator Dahiru Bako, Rt. Hon. Simon Inusa Dogari, Dr. Alfred Yahaya Kobiba, Hon. Joseph Tahwan, Hon. Ibrahim Iliya Agabi, and Hon. Tina Musa.

Others include, Ambassador Musa John, Hon Kabiru Jalo, Hon Regina Ngange, Hon Mohammed Gwampo, Hon Nasiru Boboji, and Rt Hon Husseini Ibrahim.

The committee is scheduled to be officially inaugurated next week and has been assigned the responsibility of investigating the reasons behind the leadership crisis within the party.

They are also expected to uncover the causes of the litigation concerning the leadership position of the PDP in the state.

Governor Kefas, who emphasised his administration’s commitment to resolving the party’s impasse, urged the committee to employ the best approach to settle the dispute.

The decision made by the former governor of the state, Arc Darius Dickson Ishaku, to appoint Abubakar Bawa as the party’s chairman instead of confirming the sacked Acting Chairman, Alhaji Inuwa Bakari, led to a cold war between the latter and some party members, leading to legal action.

Also, alleged lack of internal democracy within the party during the previous administration has also fueled discontent among party members, an action that the governor deems uncalled for.
