International Widows Day, celebrated every 23rd June, is a global awareness day set aside by the United Nations in 2010 to raise awareness about the violation of widows rights in many countries.

We want to appreciate God for the opportunity to witness this event and, as we equally identify with the widows to lift and place them on the part of hope.

This is what we represent at Tabitha New Life Foundation.

In our short period of existence, God has really helped us through the various partners, sponsors, friends and helpers He provided to support us in spreading smiles.

Married women all over the world encounter different challenges in their marriages but the death of a spouse is one that unleashes a deluge of problems especially in the area of finances.

Widowhood is not something anyone pray for, it’s not a status planned for, it’s not expected, it’s just an unfortunate occurrence many women will face given the fact that most women outlive their husbands.

Becoming a widow at any age can be one of the most difficult challenges a woman must face. Not only is there the emotional loss of a spouse, but also the task of handling everything — including all the finances  without the help of a spouse. Even if you’ve always handled your family’s finances, the number of financial and legal matters that have to be settled after the death of a spouse can be overwhelming.

When you find yourself in this situation, how do you overcome this obstacle and what are the steps to take to gain financial freedom after the loss?

Tabitha New Life Foundation’s mandate is to reach out to Widows &Widowers, empower them with some of our programs to dislodge them from the state of idleness and despondency, thereby giving them hope to rise above poverty, chart a new course,  change their pattern of life and hopefully embrace various entrepreneurial opportunities to brighten their horizon.* Our commitment is to give them a better livelihood and ensuring they benefit from other benefits of life.

This is in line with our motto: Hope & Service

We have been able to empower about 100 women in their chosen businesses, fed well over 1450 during the covid-19 pandemic.

This event can not hold as planned due to the present situation experienced as a result of measures to stem the spread of corona virus, hence the option of using this medium.

This is  another opportunity to bless some trained widows as they get engaged in their chosen businesses, We are presenting 5 sewing machines3 grinding machines, 3 popcorn machines and 5 camp gas cylinders and burners to some of our widows to explore their trade.

We have taken it upon ourselves to do this often. God help us.

This is a call unto service and to awaken from your slumber, this gesture can also be reproduced and settle others in this horrible situation if you really do well and prosper in your works. We urge you to take up the challenge of seeing yourself as champions and bread winners.

Shed every weight that pulls down and discourage hard work, do not entertain pity parties and encourage mourning association, it is in doing this you can go far and be who God destined you to be.

We need to reiterate here that our capacity is limited thereby, we urge those we can not easily reach out to not to be discourage , your time is around the corner. Also go ahead to register on the Federal government/Almanah Hope platform for widows through the ministry of women affairs do that your name can be on the federal government data base.

I urged you all to be courageous and not be physically and emotionally exhausted by their griefs, I promised TNLF will not relent in protecting their rights.

I emphatise with all TNLF Widows today. I salute your courage. I Know it’s being God all the way. Keep trusting God. Keep believing in yourself. Widowhood is not the end of the journey for you. There is life after this darkness. I pray God raises help for you at the very point of your need. Remember, you’re destined to be great. See opportunity around you and do greater exploits.

Once again, we want to appreciate everyone who has contributed towards the success of today’s programme. God bless and make you flourish in all endeavours.

These and many more are what we will be discussing today in commemoration of  2020 International Widows day on our online training session.
