Suspected thief escapes death after being beaten by angry youths in Jigawa

Police in Jigawa State has rescued a suspected vehicle thief after he was beaten by angry youths in Dutse Local Government.

Spokesman of the state command ASP Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed this to Newspot.

He said the suspect was rescued by policemen after he was manhandled by angry youths while attempting to steal a Motorcycle at Dutse Central Mosque.

Shiisu said the Suspect was earlier reported to police after he had stolen one Motor Vehicle Honda Civic at Takur Commercial Secondary School Jumu’ah Mosque, Dutse.

“However the suspect was rescued from mob action after he had been beaten to a state of unconsciousness by angry youths” he stated.

Shiisu said the suspect was rushed to Dutse General Hospital for treatment and later confessed to having stolen the said Honda Civic.

He said the stolen vehicle was recovered and more exhibits were recovered in his possession.

“Three master keys, two Vehicle Plate Numbers, three caps, one pair of children shoes, one set of Male Long Gown was discovered”

The Police spokesman said the case is still under investigation to unravel the syndicate and bring them to book.

The state Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State *CP Aliyu Sale Tafida, however, warned people against taking laws into their hands.

He advised the people of the state to continue to partner with all Security Agencies in the State.
