The Ondo State Police Command on Tuesday said it arrested a suspect in connection with a robbery in Idanre, in the Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmi Odunlami, said a manhunt for over members of the gang was ongoing.
She said, “Some robbers carried out an attack and one of them was arrested. We are making efforts to arrest other members of the gang.”
PUNCH Metro, however, gathered that a man suspected to be a political thug attacked a patient medicine shop in the community.
The thug was said to have got angry over the refusal of the shop owner to release a bag containing money to him.
He was said to have brought out a gun and shot four people before fleeing the scene.
An eyewitness, who did not disclose his identity for security reasons, said, “He has always been extorting money from people. He went to the supermarket to collect money, but the owner of the supermarket refused to give him.
“He wanted to snatch the bag of the owner. As he started dragging the bag with him, he brought out a gun and shot four people instantly.”
The source said the victims were rushed to the General Hospital, Idanre, where they were receiving treatment.
