Suspected Boko Haram terrorists attack Yobe village


Gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram have reportedly attacked Ngurokayya village in the Geidam Local Government Area of Yobe State.

The attack occured in Tuesday.

It is still unclear the number of casualty recorded as details remain sketchy.

The Executive Secretary, Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr. Mohammed Goje, confirmed the attack on the village in a post via his verified Facebook page.

“Suspected NSAGs members attacked a border community, one village named Ngurokayya in Kusur Damakarwa Ward in Geidam LGA.


“Ngurokayya is about 10 kilometres to Gumsa. Lives were lost with some sustaining degree of injuries, and they set town ablaze and there were report is received of people fleeing out of the town to safer location”, he posted.

According to him security agencies are fully informed and normalcy is being restored.

“Yobe State Government’s delegation, SEMA and LGA team are already mobilized to provide necessary first line support of food basket, NFIs and some basic consumables as well ensure women and children are safe and prioritised while assessment is ongoing across affected locations”, he added.

He commiserated with the Ngurokayya community, Geidam LGA and all vicitms of the attack.

Some residents said the reported attack may be a reprisal, following the recent killing of two marauding Boko Haram insurgents in Geidam by troops of 159 Battalion.
