The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III CFR, has conferred the prestigious title of Kulliyan Sokoto upon Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

This honor was announced during a public lecture and special book presentation held in Prof. Oloyede’s honor, celebrating his retirement from the University of Ilorin after an impressive four decades of service in academia, coinciding with his 70th birthday. The event took place on Thursday, October 10, 2024.

The Sultan expressed his delight at Prof. Oloyede’s remarkable career, emphasizing that he seldom attends such events—especially those with a celebratory aspect—but felt compelled to do so due to his long-standing relationship with the Ilorin Emirate Council, which dates back to his time as a military officer stationed in Ilorin. He highlighted the significant impact Prof. Oloyede has made in academia and his current role at JAMB.
