A former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New People’s Democratic Party (nPDP) Eze Chukwuemeka Eze has said that the palliative buses commissioned by the Governor of Rivers State, Sim Fubara during the week were vehicles bought by the administration of Chibuike Amaechi.

He said the fanfare that greeted the flag-off ceremony of the buses in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, was a mere jamboree intended to attract unnecessary attention.

The flag-off, which was held Tuesday, saw Prof. Ngozi Ordu, the Deputy Governor of the State cut the ribbon on behalf of Governor Fubara.

In a statement in Port Harcourt on Thursday, Eze said the coaster buses displayed during the flag-off were purchased by Amaechi in 2011.

He claimed that Amaechi had bought the buses when the state hosted the National Sports Festival of that year and were thereafter used to transport civil servants.

According to the APC chieftain, the buses however laid idle all through the last administration of Nyesom Wike.

Eze said some of the buses broke down on the road in just 24 hours after the flag-off due to mechanical fault, “signaling that no proper servicing was carried out on the old buses before they were deployed on the roads.”

Eze cautioned Fubara not to hide under the achievements of Amaechi to loot the treasury, adding that Rivers people were very much aware that no dime was spent on the so-called palliative transport scheme.

He claimed that Fubara wants to improve in the arts of mis-governance in the State from where Wike stopped.
