Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday revealed that more serving governors have been placed under its watch over stashed naira notes.
Chairman of the anti-graft agency, Abdulrasheed Bawa made this known while fielding questions from reporters after he met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Newspot recalls that sequel to the move by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN to redesign some naira notes, EFCC had last week hinted that about three governors who allegedly stashed money in their Abuja houses were under watch.
Bawa, however, said on Thursday that more serving governors have been placed under watch for illegally stashing cash in their various houses.
The EFCC boss was unable to mention names of the suspected stashers.
He commended the new naira redesigning project, describing it as a significant process in the country’s fight against financial crimes and other forms of corruption.
