The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has assured that sooner than later in Nigeria, despair would be replaced by nationalism and hope and poverty with prosperity.
The Director General of NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, stated in Asaba on Friday during the press conference on the agency’s mandate advocacy.
Represented by Mrs Rebecca Nasamu, Director, General Services, NOA, he said the gathering was to unfold new mandate strategies for societal engagement, community mobilisation for Nigeria’s socio-economic growth inorder to strengthen its democratic institutions.
He said the Center of NOA’s evolving strategy was the new National Values Charter encapsulated in the acronym, The 7 for 7, a set of seven reciprocal commitments between the country and the citizens, a condensed version of easily recognized and internalised duties, obligations and privileges of both the citizens and the government.
“Beautifully labeled in catch phrase such as The Nigerian Promise and the Citizen’s Code include as follows equality, democracy, entrepreneurship, peace, inclusivity, freedom and meritocracy.
“The Citizen’s code are: discipline, duty of care, tolerance, leadership, accountability, environmental awareness and resilience” .
On the strategy for of the new national enlightenment campaign, he said NOA’s A1 voice chat Assistant, CLHEEAN, is an innovative tool designed to address the challenges of the new media landscape.
“CLHEEAN facilitates communication various thematic issues such as crime, lawlessness, health, education, environment, abuse and nationalism” Issa-Onilu stated
Delta State Director, NOA, Mrs Tracy Ikolomi, earlier said the new national anthem despite our different tongues, religion and others should unite us, not otherwise.
“Our diversity should not be a curse. We need values that were eroded, that need to be respected. At this point in Nigeria when we are threatened by insecurity, hardship and others, we need the national anthem to unite us” she advised.
DG of Delta State Orientation & Communication Bureau, Barr Fred Latimore, in his address assured Delta state would collaborate with NOA to realize the national identity and that the state will domesticate the law.
