Didi Hamann feels Son Heung-min should move to Liverpool from Tottenham and believes he would be a ‘brilliant signing’ for Jurgen Klopp.

Son is looking to leave Spurs, according to recent reports, and Liverpool have been linked with a move for the 30-year-old South Korea international forward.

He won the Premier League Golden Boot last season alongside Mohamed Salah, scoring 23 goals in the top-flight as he enjoyed arguably his best season yet.

Son, who is under contract until 2025, moved to Spurs back in 2015 and has scored 136 goals in 343 games across all competitions.

He helped Spurs finish as Champions League runners-up in 2018-19 and has been crowned Tottenham’s Player of the Season on three separate occasions.

‘Son is a brilliant player and he would be a brilliant signing for Liverpool – I’m a big fan of his,’ former Reds defensive midfielder Hamann told BoyleSports.

‘He’s technically very gifted, can finish with both feet and he’s a very smart player so he’d be a great signing and should seriously be considered.

‘But we know that Liverpool haven’t been the biggest spenders and I think Son could cost a bomb.

‘If there was an opportunity to sign him, he’d be a great player for Liverpool.’

Tottenham have enjoyed a strong start to the season under Antonio Conte and are third in the Premier League after their opening 13 games.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have been in disastrous form in the Premier League and have lost their last two games to Nottingham Forest and Leeds United.

Klopp’s side, who were one game away from winning the title last term, are down to ninth in the table having only won four of their first 12 matches.

Tottenham host Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday in a blockbuster clash following their midweek Champions League fixtures.
